Barbuda Council called on to account for ‘idle’ shredder Spread the love Last year, a Komplet company representative estimated the Barbuda Landfill could be cleared in two weeks, using the Komplet Krokodile Mobile Shredder The Barbuda Council is being asked to account for the alleged failure to make adequate use of a costly mobile shredder, handed over one year ago. The shredder, which was provided under the European Union (EU) funded Housing Support to Barbuda project, is capable of processing construction waste at a rate of 20 tonnes per hour. One year ago, 25 persons completed training on the shredder at the landfill site in Codrington. ....

They were connected to the Antigua Grammar School (AGS) and Archdeacon Samuel Edmund Branch who founded it in 1884, and was its headmaster from that time until 1927. The AGS was first located at the top of St Mary’s Street, before it moved to the old treasury building near the Bryson’s Bottling Plant, across from the General Post Office at the bottom of High Street. Nomination Day for Barbuda Council election set a month from today Five people will be nominated on nomination day scheduled for March 17 – one month from today. The Barbuda Council comprises a member of the House of Representatives (MP), a member of the Senate and nine elected members. In 2019, members of the Barbuda People’s Movement (BPM) claimed the four seats which were left vacant by elected members who had the smallest number of votes. This time, BPM’s Kendra Beazer, Wade Burton and Nadia Harris-George as well as the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party’s (ABLP) Mackiesha Desuza and Knacyntar Nedd – the remaining five elected members whose seats were not scheduled for election in 2019 – will vacate their seats. ....
