Santa Barbara School Board Names Dawson Kelly as Student Board Member

“I hope that I can bring change and give input to this board from the student perspective, he said. I’ll be reaching out to every student in SB Unified with the goal of making education more equitable, and hopefully to get more mental health services on campus. Thank you so much to the board.”
The district will provide a student board member orientation and training this summer. Kelly was selected for the role from four finalists (one from each school site).
Santa Barbara High, Dos Pueblos High and San Marcos High schools conducted schoolwide outreach, and finalists were nominated through an election process for 9th-11th grade students. La Cuesta/Alta Vista nominated their finalist following an outreach and application process. ....

We had a good day overall today, said San Marcos coach Jeff Ashton. Both Jeffrey Forster and Holdt Gore shot season lows to make the cut and give themselves a chance to qualify for CIF.
Holdt, a freshman shot a 79. Royals freshman Shams Jahangir-Arshad carded a 74 to sit in fourth place.
Ruben Mendoza on the Canyon Course (second nine ) went birdie-par-birdie-birdie on the first four holes, said DP coach Kevin Ahlers. He had a very consistent round on a very narrow course.  
Michael Gentry of DP had two birdies and finished at 3-over 75.
Santa Barbara High s low scorer was sophomore Hudson Hatton with a 77. ....
