The Environment Agency has issued the alert for the Lower Glen and Bourne Eau system, which covers Surfleet, Pinchbeck, Baston, Tongue End and Twenty. The alert states: Over the last 24 hours we have seen heavy rainfall in the River Glen area. This means that the River Glen is now rising, which will lead to flooding of low lying land and roads close to the river from this morning (Sunday, February 7) onwards. The Flood Information Service warns that flooding is expected at the River Glen during high tide periods. The warning, which was issued at 3.30am today, said: Heavy rain over the last 24 hours has caused river levels to rise on the River Glen. Flooding at Surfleet Reservoir in April 2018.Photo supplied. (11567694) During periods of high tide, the river will be unable to discharge into the sea, resulting in tide lock conditions. This is very likely to lead to flooding at Surfleet reservoir.
