The Bombay High Court on Tuesday granted bail to Broadcast Audience Research Council s (BARC) former CEO Partho Dasgupta, an
accused in the alleged TRP scam. He was arrested by the Crime Intelligence Unit of Mumbai Police on December 24 last year.
Former BARC CEO Partho Dasgupta is accused of misusing his official position and conniving with ARG Outlier Media and Arnab Goswami.
MUMBAI: Former BARC CEO Partho Dasgupta’s lawyer told the Bombay high court on Monday that Republic TV’s Arnab Goswami was the “main person” in the TRP manipulation scam according to the prosecution.
Counsel Shardul Singh was responding to a query from Justice P D Naik as to who, according to the police, was the main person in the case and what was Dasgupta’s role. Public prosecutor Deepak Thakare said that the additional chargesheet filed in the case had mentioned Dasgupta as the “mastermind” of the scam.

New Delhi:Â A sessions court in Mumbai has rejected the bail application of former CEO of the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) Partho Dasgupta, who was arrested in the television rating points (TRP) scam.
Dasgupta was arrested on December 24 and is one of the prime accused in the alleged manipulation of TRPs. The Mumbai police recently filed a 3,400-page chargesheet in which they annexed WhatsApp chats between Republic TV founder Arnab Goswami and Dasgupta, alleging that they colluded to inflate the channel’s ratings. Dasgupta is accused of criminal breach of trust and cheating.
