Minister wants Youth Facilities to operate for 14 hours a day “Youth Facilities should eventually be open from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. at least 6 days a week.” This is the vision of Minister of Youth Development and National Service, the Honourable Fitzgerald Hinds. The Minster was speaking after he visited the St James, Laventille and Malick Youth Facilities on Saturday 6 th February, 2021. “We have remarkable facilities delivered through significant investments, with which to implement the mandate of the Ministry of Youth Development and National Service (MYDNS). Our aim is to advance the youth development agenda and create safe spaces for young people to be trained; so they can contribute to national development,” said Minister Hinds. ....
Minister Hinds committed to revitalizing ‘Youth Camps’ 16/12/20, Port of Spain: Minister of Youth Development and National Service, the Honourable Fitzgerald Hinds, accompanied by Permanent Secretary Farook Hosein and Deputy Permanent Secretaries, Marcia London-McKellar and Claire Davidson-Williams, toured the Chatham Youth Development Apprenticeship Centre, on Saturday 12 December, 2020. Minister Hinds and his team were greeted by Camp Director I, Steve Barras and given a tour of the 300 acre facility, which was originally established in 1966. The tour was extended to the dormitory and training rooms, as well as an inspection of the administrative and livestock facilities. During the visit Minister Hinds said “We are intent on re-energizing, expanding and modernizing these facilities. They will host hundreds of our youth and develop them into productive and civic-minded entrepreneurs and contributors.” ....
