Parliament passes bill to replace ordinance regularising Delhi’s unauthorised colonies India Updated: Wednesday, March 10, 2021, 20:19 [IST] New Delhi, Mar 10 (PTI): Parliament on Wednesday passed the National Capital Territory of Delhi Laws (Special Provisions) Second (Amendment) Bill, 2021, to regularise unauthorised colonies in Delhi. While the Rajya Sabha had passed the Bill on February 9, it sailed through the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. Minister of State (Independent Charge) of Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri told the Lok Sabha that the Bill would give protection to unauthorised colonies from sealing till December 31, 2023. Puri while replying to a debate on the Bill said the population of Delhi as per the 2011 census is 1.6 crore. I expect the population of Delhi in 2021 census will be close to 2 crore, if not higher, Puri added. ....

Párbeszéd: Annual Pension Raise Insufficient to Support Low-income Pensioners The opposition Párbeszéd party on Friday said the annual pension increase was “grossly insufficient” to support low-income pensioners hit hard by rising food prices. Citing inflation data published by the Central Statistical Office, Sándor Burány, the party’s deputy group leader, told an online press conference that while fuel prices had fallen, the price of basic foods had grown. The price of fresh fruit and vegetables have skyrocketed in the past year, by 27 and 9 percent respectively, he noted. Egg prices have grown by 7.3 percent, cold cuts by 11.4 percent, flour by 10.5 percent and bread by 7.8 percent, he said. ....
