Airline Supports Nigeria Olympics Team


Ethiopian Airlines has wished Nigeria’s team in the Olympics taking place in Japan the best of luck. The airline’s Manager in Abuja Senait Ataklet, recently joined other dignitaries in Abuja to see off the Nigerian Team leaving for Japan; along with the Chairperson of the Nigerian Olympic Committee Ahmed Gumel and the Japanese Ambassador to Nigeria.
The second batch of Nigerian Athletes departed on July 13th, for Japan aboard Ethiopian Airlines. Ethiopian Airlines is the airline of choice for Team Nigeria for the Tokyo Olympics. Ethiopian Airlines is the only African airline that flies to Japan straight from Africa. ....

61 Athletes to Fly Team Nigeria Flag in Tokyo 2020 Games

Team Nigeria will depart for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games in two batches with 61 athletes flying the country’s flag.
The Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development made this disclosure on Monday during a plenary meeting with National Sports Federations whose athletes qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
According to the Minister of Youth and Sports, Sunday Dare, the emergence of Covid-19 pandemic in the first quarter of 2020 affected the organisational structures of both the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
“This consequently pushed International Federations (IFs) to review their international sporting calendar and qualification pathway for athletes in their quest to participate at the Games. ....

2020 was supposed to be an action-filled year in sports with all eyes on the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. However, Covid-19 Pandemic brought all action to a grinding halt with events either being postponed or cancelled.
The Parasport action was affected too. In that scenario, the achievements of a few Para athletes and the revocation of the suspension of the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) remain the high points in Indian Parasports this year.
