Double gold was a perfect start to the World Para Alpine Skiing World Cup for Sweden’s Ebba Aarsjoe in her first major competition of the season.
The World Cup kicked off in Veysonnaz, Switzerland on Wednesday (20 January) with two giant slalom races.
The Swedish standing skier, who also competes in able-bodied races, is a relative newcomer to the Para alpine scene, but this did not stop her from beating the two biggest names in her class - the first and second in the overall rankings last season, France’s Marie Bochet and Russia’s Varvara Voronchikhina.

A few days later than expected but still packed with plenty of star power, the 2020-21 World Para Alpine Skiing World Cup season kicks off in Veysonnaz, Switzerland on Wednesday, 20 January.
The competition will be held until Saturday (23) with two giant slalom and two slalom races on the agenda.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, multiple safety measures are in place to protect the 81 athletes and staff from 21 nations.
For many skiers, the World Cup in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia, held exactly one year ago, was their last major competition in 2020. Now, with little over a year to go until the Beijing 2022 Paralympic Winter Games, they are aiming to make the most of this World Cup season.

St. Moritz, Switzerland hosted the third stage of the 2020-21 Europa Cup from 16 to 19 December. Two giant slalom and two slalom races were held as part of the event.
France’s Arthur Bauchet swept gold in the men’s standing class in what was his first major race of the season.
