Interior Health reports 44 new COVID-19 cases and a death in West Kelowna Another 44 cases of COVID-19 were identified in the BC Interior over the past 24 hours. It brings the region to 6,916 total cases since the start of the pandemic, with 880 currently active. Hospitalization numbers continue to slowly decrease, with 43 currently in Interior Health hospitals due to COVID-19 and 13 of them in intensive care. Unfortunately, there was also a death to report over the past 24 hours, which brings the total to 84 in the BC Interior since the start of the pandemic. The death occurred at Heritage Retirement Residence in West Kelowna.

That’s roughly the same number of new cases as has been recorded each day this month. The Interior Health region is also keeping pace with 44 new cases, according to provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry during a news briefing today, Feb. 12. Health officials have administered 162,982 doses of vaccines including 17,562 second doses, which has gone a long way towards decreasing the number of new cases and deaths in long-term care and assisted living homes, Dr. Henry said.

  OTTAWA Ottawa Public Health is reporting 46 more people in Ottawa have tested positive for COVID-19 and three more people have died. Provincial officials reported 1,300 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed provincewide. Public Health Ontario also reported 19 new deaths in the province and 1,434 newly resolved cases. Ontario reported 29 new cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa. Figures from Ottawa Public Health often differ from those of the province due to different data collection times. Ottawa has also seen five cases of the B.1.1.7 COVID-19 variant and one case of the B.1.351 variant to date. Ontario was previous reporting six total cases of B.1.1.7 in Ottawa but the figure was adjusted in Saturday s report. The province says, Data corrections or updates can result in case records being removed and/or updated and may result in totals differing from past publicly reported case counts.
