Marine park and 'wet farming' test among schemes receiving share of £50m funding


The UK’s first marine park, a major experiment in “wet farming” and a project to preserve the Cairngorms landscape are among five schemes receiving a share of £50 million funding.
The International Museum of Slavery in Liverpool will also receive funding for a major redevelopment and the UK’s last surviving winter gardens in Great Yarmouth will be saved from permanent loss.
Grants have been awarded to the three environmental projects and two heritage schemes as part of the National Lottery Heritage Fund’s Heritage Horizon Awards, which aim to support ambitious, innovative and transformational projects for UK heritage.
Ros Kerslake, chief executive of the National Lottery Heritage Fund, said the awards followed a year in which the organisation had been focused on supporting heritage through the Covid emergency. ....

Cairngorms National Park awarded £12.5m to fund 'radical' development

Cairngorms National Park is set to continue its decade of development with the help of £12.5million.
It has been selected as one of five projects across the UK to receive a share of £50million from the National Lottery Heritage Fund’s Heritage Horizon Awards.
Outdoor health programmes, job creation and a nature-based dementia centre are just a few examples of things we can expect to see popping up across the Cairngorms National Park in the near future.
The Cairngorms 2030: people and nature thriving together project aims to deliver a landscape-scale new community-led lifestyle. ....
