End-semester exam in April-May: BU

End-semester examination for the students of all undergraduate and postgraduate courses offered in the affiliated colleges will be held in April-May, said a press release from the Bharathiar University.
Candidates who had registered for arrears examination in March-April 2020 and had benefited from the Higher Education Department Government Order 125 of August 26, 2020 could also write examinations. They need not pay the examination fee, as they would have paid it along with the application submitted last year. The University would send the nominal rolls of such candidates to the institutions concerned. As the exams would be conducted online, candidates should register names at the university website, www.b-u.ac.in. ....

The State government on Thursday informed the Madras High Court that students from arts and science colleges would not be allowed to clear arrears without appearing for online examinations. It said 2,66,339 students from 10 different universities in the State had already appeared in the first schedule of the examinations conducted since October 2020, and the rest 1,93,370 students would be made to appear in the second schedule. ....

Dist likely to log 1,000 new Covid-19 cases a day soon | Coimbatore News

Coimbatore: The district’s Covid-19 tally zoomed past the 64,000-mark on Tuesday, when it logged 504 fresh cases. The active Covid cases also rose on the day to 4,520 even as 369 patients were discharged from treatment facilities. The district has so far seen 64,319 people testing positive for the virus.
There was, meanwhile, no mention of any Covid death in the district in the health bulletin on the day.
According to the health department, the district is likely to record 1,000 fresh cases a day in the next five days. Officials say this will not be the peak, which they suggest would be the double the number of cases that the district had seen earlier this week. If that is to be taken into account, there could be around 1,200 cases a day during the peak - the district had recorded more than 600 cases a day on Sunday and Monday - after which it would start reducing. ....
