Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards yesterday announced three large-scale coastal restoration projects are now under construction to restore more than 2,900 acres of beach, dune, marsh and ridge in four parishes in Southeast Louisiana.
The Spanish Pass marsh restoration near the town of Venice, the West Grand Terre barrier island restoration near Grand Isle, and the Golden Triangle marsh restoration east of New Orleans and Chalmette, will address significant land loss due to erosion and subsidence and restore a combined total of nearly five square miles of coastal land. 
“The rebuilding of one of our most important barrier islands in West Grand Terre, along with the restoration of crucial marshland in Spanish Pass and Golden Triangle, are major components in our long-term approach to creating a sustainable coast,” said ....

The Bayou State wants to spend $877 million in fiscal 2022 on coastal projects building more than 23 square miles of land and on advancing hurricane storm surge reduction work along the state s southeastern and south-central shoreline.
The plan represents a 19 percent reduction in spending from the current fiscal year, which ends June 30. That s primarily the result of delays in getting permits for the $1.4 billion Mid-Barataria Sediment Diversion project, said Chuck Perrodin, spokesperson of the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority. ....

The Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA) last week released its 2020 Year in Review, outlining the agency’s accomplishments in coastal protection and restoration.
The past year saw the advancement of 112 coastal projects, including 49 projects in construction, surpassing last year’s record of 40 projects in active construction.
“In a year of unprecedented challenges, our team at CPRA pressed forward with unrelenting focus in order to advance projects and deliver results to the citizens of coastal Louisiana,” said CPRA Chairman
