Irene in ‘Double Patty’ (KOFIC)
K-pop girl group Red Velvet leader Irene’s debut film “Double Patty” has earned nearly $97,000 at the Korean box office in eight days.
According to the Korean Film Council (KOFIC), “Double Patty” sold 12,356 tickets and grossed $96,664 from its opening day on Feb. 17 to Feb. 24.
Including the pre-opening screening ticket sales of 364 with a revenue of $2,954, “Double Patty” has earned $99,618 with total admissions of 12,720.
In the movie, Irene (Bae Joo-hyun) plays the role of Hyun-ji who wants to be a newscaster. Her co-star is actor Shing Seung-ho.
“Double Patty” opened on Feb. 17, selling 4,644 tickets (adjusted by KOFIC) and earning $34,632 from 265 screens to place fourth in the daily box office.

“Double Patty,” the debut film of Irene (Bae Joo-hyun), leader of K-pop girl group Red Velvet, sold 4,638 tickets on opening day on Feb. 17.
The film focuses on youth trying to achieve their dreams and Irene plays the role of Hyun-ji, who wants to be a newscaster.
According to the Korean Film Council (KOFIC), which tracks box office receipts, “Double Patty” had 4,638 in total admissions on Feb. 17, earning $34,733, which translated to a revenue share of 5.31 percent for the day.
The film placed fourth among the top earning films for Feb. 17, behind topnotcher “Mission: Possible” starring Kim Young-kwang and Lee Sun-bin, which opened with 26,010 tickets sold and revenue of $199,982 (30.58 percent of total revenue for the day).

Actor Shin Seung-ho may not sound familiar to many viewers, but his works are. Since debuting as actor in 2017, he has built up an impressive acting career by appearing mostly in teen romance series, such as web drama, A-teen, JTBC s Moments of 18 and Netflix s Love Alarm.
The football player-turned-actor has finally landed his first lead movie role opposite Bae Joo-hyun, better known by her stage name, Irene, of girl band Red Velvet, in the coming-of-age drama, Double Patty.
In the film, Shin stars as Kang Woo-ram, a gifted ssireum (Korean traditional wrestling) athlete who goes through a slump, while Irene plays the role of aspiring anchorwoman Lee Hyun-ji, who juggles multiple part-time jobs to achieve her dream.
