Chris Bartolomie started working for the Town of Canmore on July 12, 1999.
“I was hired to plan the Millennium New Year’s Eve celebrations,” Bartolomie said. “I worked out of the Recreation Centre in those days with a great bunch of folks and we laughed a lot. I just loved it!”
She soon found out that she worked with one more, less conspicuous, staff member.
“That New Year’s Eve was not only the first event I planned for the Town of Canmore but it was my first experience with Samantha – the ghost of the young girl that was rumoured to live there,” Bartolomie said. “Myself and a couple of volunteers were loading equipment into the back door of the Recreation Centre at about 2 in the morning when the lights in the arena came on and the music started playing ....

Kayla Eykelboom, of Canmore, has been creating art all of her life but she has been pursuing painting in her spare time for over 10 years.
“I don’t think I ever realized I wanted to be a professional artist until I kind of was one,” Eykelboom said. “It just happened as a result of tending to a need to create all the time.
