It was 60 years ago that nighttime racing finally came to the Province of Ontario. On the evening of May 17, 1961 with a post time of 8:00 p.m., it all happened at Western Fair Raceway in London, Ontario. A few recollections of the times and some old photographs help to recall this very special moment in our sport s history. The Kodiak City Council is now seeking input from the community on where to put the new fire station after spending months looking at various locations around the city. âIf we are potentially going to put a multimillion-dollar facility in an area we know has the potential to be impacted by a tsunami, it s incumbent upon us to let the community know that,â Councilor John Whiddon said last week. The pre-design phase of the new fire station project began in October 2019. After more than a year spent looking at seven potential sites for the station â including considering response times to fires and studying tsunami inundation zone maps â the city narrowed the list down to three possible sites. ....

As a part of the incentive, Gattefosse USA will invest $30 million in capital investment, and the city will provide them with 15 acres of land in Lufkin’s Industrial Park off Highway 103 E near Twin Disc. Director Bob Sanford said the facility will produce lipid-based specialty ingredients for the beauty and health care industries worldwide. ....
