Awesome Rematch: WEM at BP Monday on Kat Kountry 105
The Blooming Prairie girls basketball team goes for the season sweep of No. 9 rated Waterville-Elysian-Morristown Monday night at 7:15 pm with coverage on Kat Kountry 105 FM and the free downloadable Kat Kountry 105 app. The No. 11 ranked Awesome Blossoms edged the Buccaneers 43-42 February 12 on a basket in the closing seconds.
Blooming Prairie (14-1 overall, 11-0 Gopher Conference) is seeking their first conference title since 2014-15. WEM (12-3, 10-1) shared the league title last season with Medford. A BP win would secure no less than a share of the conference title. Each team has two regular season games remaining after Monday.
Late Surge Lifts Medford Girls to Victory [Scoreboard for Jan 19]
The Medford girls basketball team led most of the way in their 50-44 win over Tri-City United Tuesday night. But the Tigers needed a strong finish after the Titans rallied from a double-digit, second-half deficit to briefly take a 40-39 lead with under five minutes to play. Medford sophomore Andrea Bock immediately answered Kaitlyn Lang s three for TCU with a trey of her own to put Medford back up 42-40. The Tigers closed on an 11-4 run to improve to 2-0 on the season.
Bock hit the next two Medford buckets for a 46-44 lead. Tiger senior Jenna Berg drilled both ends of a one-and-one with less than a minute to go. Medford junior Clara Kniefel also connected on a pair of free throws for the final margin of 50-44.
