Bundaberg police have revealed 157 infringements were issued to drivers across the region over the Easter long weekend. Officer in charge of the Bundaberg Road Policing Unit Sergeant Marty Arnold said multiple disappointing incidents occurred on the region s roads this weekend, but overall the majority of drivers were well behaved. Two drivers (were) issued infringements for travelling 40km/h over the speed limit on a wet road (and there were) nine drink drivers - two of which were over five times the legal limit, he said. Across the Wide Bay Burnett 157 infringements were issued and 2845 random breath tests conducted. But with more than 150 infringements issued over the weekend, it s clear the important message continues to go unheard for some. ....
Represented by defence lawyer Andrew Wiseman, Ferguson pleaded guilty on Tuesday to drink driving. Mr Wiseman said Ferguson had not driven from the Gold Coast to the Glass House Mountains, but had foolishly gotten behind the wheel after having a few beers in the forest, shortly before police arrived. Mr Wiseman said Ferguson, a tradie, was remorseful for his actions and had since completed the Queensland Traffic Offenders Program. William Browning Cullen pleaded guilty at Moranbah Magistrates Court on March 11 to driving over the general alcohol limit but not over the middle alcohol limit. Cullen was intercepted by police for a roadside breath test at 7.10am on February 22 on Moranbah Access Road and told police he had enjoyed a bottle of wine with dinner the night before, the court heard. Police prosecutor Sergeant Paul Cramp said Cullen returned a Blood-Alcohol Content reading of .061. Magistrate Robert Walker questioned how many bottles of wine Cullen consumed, considering his reading âat that time of the morningâ. ....
