The court of special POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act) judge GD Pasi also slapped a fine of Rs 13,000 on the convict Vinu Katariya. Vadodara: Two workers of BJP Yuva Morcha (BJYM) were booked by Padra police on Wednesday for organizing a bike rally of 200 workers in Padra town on the occasion of Swami Vivekananda’s birth anniversary. The offence for committing a negligent act likely to spread the infection of any disease dangerous to life and under sections of Disaster Management Act was registered 24 hours after the rally had started. Police said that the accused Hansal Pandya and Amit Patel organized the bike rally without police permission. Pandya is secretary of the district unit of BJYM while Patel is general secretary of the Padra unit. The bike rally started from garba ground near Mama Party Plot around noon and ended at Kuber farm in the evening. tnn ....
MUMBAI: The Supreme Court on Wednesday confirmed the admission of 18-year-old Siddhant Batra to IIT-Bombay for the undergraduate bachelor of technology (BTech) course in electrical engineering on his plea that he had lost his seat to an “apparent mistake” while opting to withdraw only from further rounds during the online admission process. A bench of Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul, Dinesh Maheswari and Hrishikesh Roy regularised the admission for Batra, who had scored all-India JEE rank of 270, and said a “quietus” be put on this issue. But, on the request of the IIT counsel Sonal Jain, the SC bench directed that its order not be treated as a precedent. ....
