Car thefts continue to plague Milwaukee. Here are some answers.

Her 2017 silver Hyundai Elantra was stolen Feb. 8 from in front of her house on the northwest side of Milwaukee. Her car was found on the south side the next day with a broken back passenger window, damaged rear bumper and passenger quarter panel, and peeled down steering column.
The damage came to $5,000, and she still owes $10,000 on the car. To compound matters, she missed an insurance payment and didn’t have insurance when the car was swiped.
“They ruined my car, and I couldn’t even trade it in because the dealership said it had too much damage,” she said. ....

Lawmaker Fights Rising Chicago Carjackings by Banning Video Games

Illinois State Rep. Marcus Evans Jr. (D) is attempting to fight a surge in Chicago carjackings by pushing to ban the sales of the Grand Theft Auto video game.
The
New York Postreports that Evans “introduced legislation Friday to amend an existing state law that prohibits the sale of certain video games to minors.”
The
Chicago Sun-Times notes the legislation, HB3531, would ban sales of other games too, targeting games that allegedly depict “psychological harm.”
Evans said, “The bill would prohibit the sale of some of these games that promote the activities that we’re suffering from in our communities.” ....

Chicago carjackings: Illinois Rep. Marcus Evans proposes banning 'Grand Theft Auto' video game, saying it contributes to crime

OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. (WLS) An Illinois lawmaker has a new response to the recent surge in carjackings around the Chicago area banning a popular video game.
State Rep. Marcus Evans said during a press conference Monday morning in south suburban Olympia Fields that video games are contributing to the carjacking surge across the area.
Grand Theft Auto, which had its first installment released back in 1997, is the main issue, he said.
Evans said he plans to introduce a bill to ban sales of the game in Illinois.
Grand Theft Auto and other violent video games are getting in the minds of our young people and perpetuating the normalcy of carjacking, Evans said. Carjacking is not normal and carjacking must stop. ....
