in the most recent edition of The Hardrock magazine. This spring, university dedicated a new plaza
on campus to Dean Mahon.

In
June I will be retiring. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as the
Vice President for Student Development and Dean of Students at South Dakota
Mines for the past 21 years. The joy of coming to work has been centered around

South Dakota Mines
will hold an in-person commencement ceremony starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday,
May 8, 2021 in the Barnett Arena of the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center.

This
is the university’s first in-person commencement since the start of the
pandemic. Participants are encouraged to wear masks and to social distance.

The
event includes a total of 375 graduates. This includes four associate’s, 290

Despite Pandemic South Dakota Mines Hosts Largest Spring Career Fair Ever

interning with Cardinal Health in Norfolk, Neb.Â
While in school 79% of Mines students land at least one paid
major-related internship before graduation, many of students find internship opportunities
at a university hosted career fair.

South Dakota Mines held the largest springtime
career fair in university history with 126 vendors signed up to take part on Tuesday, Feb. 2. These vendors are lining up to hire Mines students
for internships and full-time positions despite the ongoing pandemic. Â
