Capitol riot suspect, a former Monmouth corrections officer, indicted


A federal grand jury in Washington, D.C., has handed up an indictment against a Monmouth County woman in the Capitol riot case.
Marissa A. Suarez, a former corrections officer at Monmouth County Jail, was indicted with another New Jersey woman, Patricia Todisco, with whom Suarez traveled to Washington.
The two were charged in a complaint on Jan. 22, the day Suarez, a 31-year-old Union Beach resident, resigned from her job at the jail. She had been at the job since 2019.
According to an affidavit attached to the complaint in the case, she had taken an emergency holiday off from work on Jan. 6. ....

Two New Jersey women authorities believe traveled together to Washington, D.C. on Jan. 6 and invaded the U.S. Capitol have each been indicted on multiple federal crimes.

A former New Jersey corrections officer and her friend have been indicted for their alleged participation in the Jan. 6 breach of the Capitol.
The federal indictment handed up in Washington, D.C. last week charged Marissa Suarez and Patricia Todisco with multiple counts including disorderly conduct, entering a restricted building and disrupting a session of Congress.
Todisco also was charged with illegally entering a room designated for a member of Congress. An FBI affidavit released in January alleged a photo showed Todisco in the office of Sen. Jeff Merkley of Oregon. ....
