Experts panel detects loopholes in Bihar government action plan against Covid

Synopsis
As per the report, Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) has a capacity of 1,750 beds but patients on only 106 beds are getting oxygen. Medanta hospital has a capacity of 500 beds, but the hospital has no oxygen supply.

The high court has also directed the state government to ensure round-the-clock supply of oxygen and submit fresh reports.
The experts committee set up by the Patna High Court submitted its report before the judges wherein it has found many loopholes in the action plan of the state government to fight the corona infection.

The state government s move has upset a large number of alumni members, heritage lovers and scholars, who have already appealed to not dismantle these iconic structures.

PATNA: Three months before India s independence, Mahatma Gandhi had visited the Patna Medical College and Hospital for an appendicitis surgery of his grand-niece Manu, and so worried Bapu was that he sat next to her, wearing a surgical mask and watched the entire procedure in the operation theatre.
Seventy-five years later, Gandhian scholars and his admirers are now concerned over the fate of the over 100-year-old Bankipore General Hospital building in which the operation took place on May 15, 1947, and other heritage structures of the PMCH Bihar and Odisha s first medical college which are set to be demolished as part of a mega redevelopment project.
