According to National Cancer Registry Programme Report, the number of cancer cases in India is likely to rise to more than 15 million by 2025. Researchers from India s IIT-Bombay institute developed the country s first indigenous CAR-T therapy using clinical inputs from a team of oncologists with the goal of making the treatment cost-effective.
In an attempt to make cancer treatment affordable, the Indian government has approved a grant of $2.8 million to conduct the first-in-human phase-1/2 clinical trial of Chimeric Antigen Receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy in the country. This pandemic has also led to rising cases of insomnia due to a variety of reasons, in turn, leading to the coining of the term ‘coronasomnia’. According to Dr Anamika Rathore, consultant ENT/endoscopic sinus and sleep apnea surgeon, Bhatia Hospital Mumbai, some of the factors are:
Stress: Fear of getting infected, spreading infection, watching too much news, feeling helpless, unable to meet covid-infected family members etc.
 
Change in daily routine: Lack of physical activity, online work, excess work at home with no breaks and outings, sometimes excessive daytime sleeping leading to insomnia, increased screen time ....
