The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have spoken to nursing students from Ulster University via video call to hear more about their experiences of studying during the pandemic, and of undertaking placements on the frontline of the Covid-19 response in Northern Ireland. On Tuesday Their Royal Highnesses firstly spoke to Abigail McGarvey, a first-year Adult Nursing student, about a video diary she created to demonstrate a typical shift during her first placement as a student nurse. ....

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have praised student nurses from Northern Ireland on front-line placements during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Their Royal Highnesses video-called students from Ulster University s School of Nursing on Tuesday.
The Royal couple spoke to Abigail McGarvey, a first year student, about a video diary she made on her placement.
It was absolutely mad, they were so, so lovely and so easy to talk to, the 18-year-old told BBC News NI.
Ms McGarvey created her video diary to demonstrate what a typical shift on the front line was like for student nurses. ....

Kate praises student nurses for joining one of the most 'trusted' professions

The Duchess of Cambridge has praised a group of student nurses soon to join the profession telling them they were “needed now more than ever”.
Kate and William chatted to the trainees during a practical lesson and the duke sympathised with the group who took part in hospital placements during the coronavirus pandemic, saying: “That’s really baptism by fire.”
At the start of the first lockdown, the students from Ulster University’s School of Nursing joined the frontline fight against Covid-19 working on wards or in the community.
