Pak-India peoples' forum lauds Edhi foundation

LAHORE: Pakistan India Peoples’ Forum for Peace and Democracy (PIPFPD) has welcomed the heartfelt concern expressed by the people of Pakistan for the people of India as they struggle to overcome the impact of Covid-19 pandemic which knows no borders or nationalities.
The PIPFPD said it appreciates the Edhi Foundation offer for their support in offering healthcare assistance to the people of India. In a letter to the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Managing Trustee Faisal Edhi, offered leading a health mission to India comprising 50 medically equipped ambulances and technical staff.
The forum said the governments of the region have recognised the fundamental importance of working together, but the historical baggage of an unresolved past has repeatedly derailed cooperation. ....

Pakistan national held at Bhuj JIC dies after complaining of breathlessness

ARAB ALIAS Arbas Misribhai Jat, a 60-year-old Pakistani national being held as a detainee at Bhuj’s Joint Interrogation Centre (JIC) after his arrest in 2013, died at a hospital at Bhuj town in Kutch district Monday following complaints of breathlessness. Officers said Jat also suffered from a mental illness. The sexagenarian is the fourth Pakistani national lodged at JIC to have died within a nearly two-month period.
Officers at the JIC said Jat seemed to suffer from breathlessness late Sunday evening. “He was rushed to GK General Hospital at 10.30 pm Sunday with complaints of difficulty in breathing. He died around 3 am Monday while undergoing treatment at the hospital,” police inspector MB Jani, who is in-charge of JIC, told The Indian Express Tuesday. ....

Plight of prisoners held in Indian, Pakistani jails highlighted - Newspaper


KARACHI: To mark International Human Rights Day, a webinar on ‘Prisoners of contention speaking of issues and rights of Indo-Pak prisoners’ was held here on Thursday.
The event was organised by the Pakistan India Peoples’ Forum for Peace and Democracy (PIPFPD) in collaboration with several non-government organisations, including the Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum (PFF), Edhi Foundation, Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP), Legal Aid Society, Pakistan, Pakistan Institute of Labour Education and Research (Piler) and Aman ki Asha.
Most of the Indian citizens in Pakistan’s prisons and Pakistani citizens in Indian prisons are innocent captives of circumstances, destiny as well as the historical contention between India and Pakistan. They become victims of tense relations and do not get released and repatriated on the day of completing their sentences. ....
