The Andhra Pradesh government has allocated ₹9,091.36 crore towards power subsidy for 2021-2022. This includes ₹7,297.08 crore for free power to agriculture and ₹1,657.56 crore for aquaculture and other select consumer segments.
During this fiscal, the Government expects to extend power subsidy to about 40 lakh families. These include free power to 11.73 lakh SC and ST families, most backward classes, 1250 units for launderers, barbers shops, goldsmiths and handloom workers among few other select segments.
State Energy Secretary Srikant Nagulapalli said the State government has attached high priority for effective implementation of welfare schemes under Navaratnalu in AP Power sector. This can benefit more than 40 lakhs families in the State. ....

Bihar govt to provide subsidised power to farms by March 2022: Minister


electricity connection to every agricultural land at a lower rate in the state by the end of March next year, Energy Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav told legislative assembly on Tuesday.
Stating that it was Chief Minister Nitish Kumar s desire to provide power connection to farmers as they have to spend more on irrigation through traditional mode, Yadav said three lakh such connections have already been given so far.
Electricity under Mukhya Mantri Krishi Vidyut Sambandh Yojana is supplied at a very cheaper rate of 65 paisa per unit, the minister added.
The government has awarded tender to two companies for the purpose and instructed them to complete it by March 2022, Yadav said, adding that Rs 1329.61 crore will be spent in the next fiscal for the purpose. ....

Maharashtra steel industry demands to continue power subsidy for backward regions

The Maharashtra steel industry has urged the state government to resume power subsidies for enterprises and provide a higher budgetary allocation of Rs 1,800 crore for this to support industries in backward regions such as Marathwada and Vidarbha.
Steel Manufacturers Association of Maharashtra President Yogesh Mandhani said that the per-unit cost of electricity had come down to 5 from 8 earlier due to the subsidy provided by the government.
To boost industry in backward regions in the state, the state government had introduced a subsidy on power tariff for industries in Marathwada, Vidarbha and Khandesh regions in line with the recommendations of the Vijay Kelkar committee. ....
