Pact with ISRO boosts Skyroot's bid to launch India's first private rocket

Skyroot Aerospace s programme to launch India s first-ever privately-designed and developed rocket, Vikram-1, received a boost with the Department of Space entering into a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) with the Hyderabad-based company building small satellite launch vehicles.
The NDA signed on Tuesday will enable the company, run by former ISRO scientists, to access the facilities and technical expertise available in ISRO centres to proceed with its launch vehicle development programme.
Indian Space Research Organisation s Scientific Secretary R. Umamaheswaran signed the agreement on behalf of Department of Space and Skyroot Aerospace CEO Pawan Kumar Chandana signed the agreement from the company s side. ....

Hyderabad: In a first-ever, a Hyderabad-based aerospace company is all set to launch its first rocket by the end of 2021. The company’s launch vehicle ‘Vikram-I’, which is under construction in partnership with Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), is ready for space launch by this year-end.
Vikram-I’s launch is one of the first efforts of the country to put commercial satellites into space.

Pawan Kumar Chandana, co-founder & CEO of Skyroot Aerospace said, “This year, we have three full rocket stage tests. They will be done at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) facilities one every 2-3 months before we go for a launch by end of the year.” ....

Smart toilets to rockets: Startups pitch innovations to PM Modi at Prarambh

3D printers that can continuously print carbon fibre parts, smart toilets that use the Internet of Things (IoT) technology and rockets for space exploration, were some of the innovative technologies on display at ‘Prarambh: Startup India International Summit.’ The other innovations included apps that improve the lives of the visually impaired, mobile brick making machines, jackfruit flour that helps control diabetes and biodegradable personal protective equipment (PPE) suit that can be recycled into other products.
These startups pitched their products and services to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and an audience of top business executives, government officials, and investors.

Skyroot Aerospace test-fires solid propulsion rocket engine - The Hindu BusinessLine

This is Skyroot’s first of five Kalam series of solid rocket motors
Skyroot Aerospace, a Hyderabad based start-up in the space sector, has successfully test-fired a solid propulsion rocket engine named Kalam-5.
It is the country’s first private sector company to successfully test-fire a solid propulsion rocket stage engine designed and developed by it. It has been built with advanced carbon composite structure in a completely automated process. A carbon composite case is challenging to design and manufacture and is five times lighter than steel.
With this test, along with its Raman Engine (liquid propulsion) test-firing done in August 2020, Skyroot has demonstrated all propulsion technologies in Vikram-1 vehicle. ....
