Calls for dedicated hospice facility in the Latrobe Valley

Zac Standish
MEMBER for Morwell Russell Northe is leading the call for a dedicated hospice care facility to be set up in the Latrobe Valley.
An idea that would utilise the vacant Hazelwood House precinct in Churchill, which closed in 2019, Mr Northe wrote to Health Minister Martin Foley about this proposition in May.

Latrobe City Council is seeking expressions of interest from the public to buy Hazelwood House, a former aged care hostel at Churchill.
The property was developed by the community to provide an opportunity for local people to age in place.
It operated as a residential aged care facility until 2019 when its size and age rendered it unviable.
Council is seeking initial expression of interest submissions that consider the use of the whole site, preferably including and beyond the current site improvements.
Hazelwood House has 3.914 hectares and is zoned General Residential Zone – Schedule 1. The building size is 1784 square metres and is a single storey building built in the early 1990s, with 38 single rooms and ensuites. ....
