Made For Love review: Promising sci-fi dramedy

Made For Love deconstructs a relationship, one foreboding flashback at a time. The eight-part drama-comedy is faithful in tone and structure to its source material, the 2017 novel of the same name, right down to its in medias res opening. But where Alissa Nutting introduced her book’s protagonist by also introducing her father and his
interesting new girlfriend, as a writer and executive producer on the TV adaptation, she has Hazel (Cristin Milioti) crawl out of a sewer in an iridescent green dress, like some haute couture alligator.

The series’ opening is an inspired way to evoke the novel’s Florida-ness (though the setting has been relocated to some undisclosed state), but it’s also indicative of its main drawback a tendency to over-punctuate story beats. Seeing Hazel resplendent in her fury despite having just waded through sewage is undeniably piquant, but it also feels a bit like gilding the narrative lily. The premiere epi ....

Made For Love is a blend of advanced science-fiction and a classic love story gone wrong. Girl meets rich boy, boy sweeps her off her feet, and then implants a tracking chip in her brain without consent. At least that’s what happens to Hazel Green-Gogol (Cristin Milioti), who marries tech genius and billionaire Byron Gogol (Billy Magnussen). After 10 years of the pair living together in a fancy bubble called The Hub, Byron inserts a device in his wife’s mind that provides data on her thoughts and emotions. Before Northern closed, South Australia had Australia’s highest price.
Five years after the closure of Northern in 2016, and four years after the closure of Hazelwood in 2017, South Australia and Victorian have wholesale prices one-third lower than those in NSW and two-fifths lower than those in Queensland.

ALTON Brian Fogarty and Ruth Kvistad of the Alton Memorial Hospital EMS team are both heading to medical school later this year.
Kvistad said she hadn’t planned on more school. An EMT with Alton Memorial Hospital’s EMS team since November 2020, she has even loftier goals. Neither of her parents had college degrees, and her high school wasn’t pushing students to apply.
Then, during her senior year, Kvistad was cleaning out fryers as part of a fundraiser for a local organization. One of her co-volunteers accidentally opened the valve at the bottom of a fryer and a mixture of boiling water, soap and remnant oil gushed onto Kvistad’s foot badly burning her. ....
