City Council makes offer to Burlington School District for James Madison land

After a year of negotiating, the Burlington City Council on Monday signed off on purchasing a piece of land to facilitate the city s Harrison Street sewer separation project.
The city needed to get about five acres of land from the Burlington School District to build a retention pond, which will help with stormwater flow during heavy rain events.
(This is the credit) system we have proposed to the school district to purchase the 4.6 acres on James Madison (school), Assistant City Manager for Public Works Nick MacGregor explained.
As part of the agreement, the city will purchase a chunk of land on the northeastern corner of the district s James Madison property. The school district has been using the James Madison building to house its enrichment program for kindergarten through sixth-grade students on their continuos learning days since the start of the school year, but with the district discontinuing its hybrid schedule effective Feb. 8, the buil ....

Contractors begin second pass of Enid ice storm debris cleanup

ENID, Okla. â Contractors began a second pass through Enid on Tuesday to pick up more tree debris from Octoberâs ice storm, after having already collected more than 4,000 tons before Christmas.
Two trucks from TFR Enterprises, last in Enid on Dec. 22, will pick up debris through areas mainly south of Garriott and east of Van Buren, and from South 3rd to 5th, Public Utilities Director David Hunter said Tuesday.
Hunter said another truck will be added Wednesday and that the city is working to add a fourth by Friday.
âWeâve had situations where weâve done a pass and (residents have) brought out more, like theyâll have some in their front yard and then their backyard, but Iâd usually say weâre at 80% or greater of the city has been picked up,â Hunter said. ....
