By Editor | April 21, 2021 STORM CENTER: A COLUMN BY SPORTS EDITOR ERIC VICCARO The Ste. Genevieve Golf Club received statewide recognition in April 2021 edition of Rural Missouri Magazine. Ste. Genevieve G.C., located in Zell, was ranked the second-best rural golf course in the entire Show-Me State. General manager Chad Schilli was proud the course received this honor. “I thought for the board, and for my co-workers, it was nice to see some notoriety for their hard work,” Schilli said. “It let’s them know that their work is not going unnoticed.” Being a part of an award from Rural Missouri Magazine is nothing new for Schilli, who was on the staff at Bent Creek Golf Course in Jackson when that facility was honored several years ago. ....

They have offered five days a week of live education since school opened on August 20. High school principal Greg Miller said that students have been very happy to stay in the classroom, rather than going virtual. “One of the surprising things about the first semester was the number of students who were devastated when they had to enter a quarantine period due to close-contact,” Miller said. “Students did not like the Spring Lockdown period of 2020. They prefer to be here, with friends, faculty, and coaches that care.” ....
By Editor | February 16, 2021 FROM STAFF REPORTS Harsher than usual winter weather has thrown a proverbial monkey wrench into Ste. Genevieve R-II Schools’ plans to resume four days a week of live classes. The district had barely kicked off the four-day-a week live schedule, when winter snow and ice began hitting. Through the weekend, the district had already used five snow days, the district’s plan is to utilize its AMI Virtual Instruction Plan on the next inclement weather day where students would stay home from school. While the four days live schedule will resume as soon as weather permits, students and faculty will no longer have the option of staying in bed and enjoying a snow day, should more inclement weather hit. ....
