Two pieces of Lynchburg-area history made the Virginia Association of Museumsâ Top 10 Endangered Artifacts list for 2020, putting the items in the running for a $1,000 award to help conservation efforts. The local artifacts are a World War II poster at the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford, and the white marble angel statue marking the grave of a 2-year-old child in Lynchburgâs Old City Cemetery. The VAMâs Top 10 endangered artifacts program campaign was designed to raise awareness of the importance of Virginiaâs museums striving to preserve and tell stories of the commonwealthâs history and financially support the efforts of institutions. Virginia museums can submit an artifact for the program every year. A list of the nominated artifacts are then reviewed by a VAM committee that narrows down a list to the top 10. ....
Peshawar’s Warsak Road marble factories to be shifted to Mohmand National December 31, 2020 PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to shift all the marble factories from the Warsak Road in Peshawar and Shabqadar to the newly established Mohmand Economic Zone. This was decided in a meeting held here on Wednesday with Chief Minister Mahmood Khan in the chair to review the progress on Mohmand Economic Zone and Buner Marble City, said an official handout. Special Assistants to Chief Minister Arif Ahmadzai, Riaz Khan, Secretary, Mineral department, Chief Executive Officer, KP Economic Zone Development & Management Company, Javed Khattak, and other relevant senior officials attended the meeting. It was also decided that in addition to grant in aid, plots would be given on concessional rates to the marble factory owners who voluntarily shift factories to the Mohmand Economic Zone. ....
