Vasai: Alert woman foils man s bid to break open ATM, accused held

A man was arrested in Vasai on Thursday after he tried to break open an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) of a bank.
According to a senior police officer, an alert woman foiled the man s attempt to rob cash after she spotted him tampering with the ATM.
The 26-year-old woman immediately downed the shutter of the kiosk and alerted the police.
The police immediately rushed to the spot and nabbed the accused, identified as Salim Mansuri.
The incident took place at Valiv locality in Vasai, following which the accused was arrested by the Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar (MBVV) police Commissionerate ....

In the last two days, the
Palghar district administration has penalised 189 people for not wearing face masks and collected Rs 36,150 as fine from them.
According to a release shared by the district administration, Palghar Collector Manik Gursal and other officials inspected 66 public places over the last two days in the wake of a spike in coronavirus cases.
Three marriage halls were among the places inspected and action was taken against those who violated COVID-19 prevention norms.
A fine of Rs 6,600 was collected from three other public places for violation of COVID-19 norms. ....

Mumbai: A Navy official succumbed to injuries on Saturday after being set on fire by unidentified persons in Palghar, Maharashtra. He was burnt alive following the unfulfillment of ransom demands of the kidnappers.
According to Palghar Police, the Navy official has been identified as Suraj Kumar Dubey (27), a resident of Ranchi, Jharkhand, who served at INS Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu. He was kidnapped from near the Chennai airport and taken to the jungles of Vevaji in Palghar. ....

Newly married man kills wife in Maharashtra's Palghar | Thane News

PALGHAR: A 24-year-old man, who got married last month, has allegedly killed his wife over some domestic dispute in Maharashtra s Palghar district, police said on Monday.
The incident took place on Sunday in Vasai area, assistant police inspector Shahuraj Ranaware from Tulinj police station said.
The accused and the 28-year-old victim got married on December 7, 2020, he said.
Following some differences between them, the accused, who works in a private firm, allegedly strangulated his wife to death with a nylon rope, he said.
Based on a complaint filed by the victim s brother, the police have registered a case under Indian Penal Code Section 302 (murder), the official said. ....
