Garland has named Ayako Schuster to lead the city’s Economic Development Department. In her new role, she will focus on bringing new development and redevelopment partnerships to the city, according to a news release.
Ayako Schuster, who began her work for Garland as an intern in 2000, was recently named as the city s new Economic Development Director.
Schuster began her career in economic development in 2000 as an intern for the Garland Economic Development Partnership and Garland Chamber of Commerce. She has also served the city as Business Development Manager.

The Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami not only sped the population decline in many municipalities in the northwestern prefectures of Miyagi and Iwate, it sparked population growth in Sendai, a core city in the Tohoku region.
