REAC/TS receives U.S. Secretary of Energy's Achievement Award

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. Radiation Emergency Assistance Center/Training Site (REAC/TS) team members, who provided consultation during a breached radioactive source event at the University of Washington’s Harborview Research and Training Facility in 2019, received the U.S. Secretary of Energy’s Achievement Award for their contribution.
As a member of the Seattle Response and Recovery and Cs-137 Joint Investigation Teams, REAC/TS members were recognized for their part in the “successful emergency response, recovery, stabilization, and investigation of the breached radioactive source event at the University of Washington’s Harborview Research and Training Facility. The Response and Recovery Team’s focused and tireless efforts in responding to a radiological emergency at the facility and removing the breached radioactive source led the way for facility remediation efforts and minimized any harm or negative impacts to the public,” accordin ....

Seventeen from Argonne recognized with Secretary of Energy's Honor Awards

Six groups that included 17 scientists, engineers and other staff from the U.S. Department of Energy s (DOE) Argonne National Laboratory were recipients of the recently announced DOE 2020 Secretary of Energy s Honor Awards.
The Laboratory can be very proud. The number of Argonne researchers who earned this prestigious recognition from DOE, the Secretary s Honor Awards, is more than double that of the previous year, said Argonne Director Paul Kearns. Congratulations to all the honorees and a special thanks to your research teams for their contributions to this impactful science. ORNL employees recognized with DOE Secretary’s Honor Awards
Thirty-two Oak Ridge National Laboratory employees were named among teams recognized by former U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Dan Brouillette with Secretary’s Honor Awards as he completed his term. DOE’s site manager for ORNL, Johnny O. Moore, also is among those honored.
The annual awards recognize the achievements of those who have gone above and beyond in fulfilling DOE’s mission and serving the nation. A new group of awards for 2020 reflect DOE responses to the coronavirus pandemic.
In letters introducing the awards, Brouillette wrote that these researchers and staff members “have surpassed the highest standards of excellence, demonstrated great knowledge and ability, and exhibited an exceptional commitment to service.” ....
