UW College of Business Taps Senior Associate Dean, Department Chairs | News

Three members of the faculty in the University of Wyoming’s College of Business will step into new leadership roles in coming weeks.
Associate Professor Ronn Smith current chair of the Department of Management and Marketing, and interim associate dean of the college will begin service as the college’s senior associate dean starting May 1.
At that time, Associate Professor Andy Arnette will succeed Smith as chair of the Department of Management and Marketing.
And Associate Professor Mitch Oler, the Lenhart, Mason & Associates Fellow in the Department of Accounting and Finance, will chair that department starting July 1. ....

Nine Teams to Compete in UW Virtual Ellbogen $50K Entrepreneurship Competition April 23-24 | News

Nine student-led teams are vying for seed prize money to get their business plans off the ground in the John P. Ellbogen $50K Entrepreneurship Competition sponsored by the University of Wyoming’s College of Business.
The competition encourages students to act on their talents, ideas and energy to produce tomorrow’s leading businesses. It will be held Friday and Saturday, April 23-24, as a public webinar.
“The dedication and work ethic shown by our nine finalist teams have been outstanding,” says Patrick Kreiser, the UW College of Business Rile Chair of Entrepreneurship and Leadership. “More than anything, the purpose of experiential learning is to convince students to dream big and then provide them with the support to turn those dreams into reality. We are confident that all nine teams offer compelling value propositions and sustainable business models to help support the Wyoming economy.” ....

At this year’s ICAM, two topics were top of mind: meeting AACSB’s revised standards and serving a changing student demographic in a post-COVID era.
To say it has been a tumultuous year is obviously an understatement. But as the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine picks up steam and university campuses begin to reopen, attendees at AACSB’s virtual International Conference and Annual Meeting, held last week, were ready to look ahead to what an uncertain future might bring to their institutions.

Judges Announced for UW's John P. Ellbogen $50K Entrepreneurship Competition | News

The University of Wyoming College of Business has selected the panel of judges for the 2021 John P. Ellbogen $50K Entrepreneurship Competition.
The five judges have volunteered their time and expertise to judge the nine student business plans, each vying for a share of $50,000 in prize money.
“We are absolutely thrilled to have put together a panel of five exceptional judges for this year’s competition,” says Patrick Kreiser, the Rile Endowed Chair of Entrepreneurship and Leadership in the UW College of Business and an associate professor of management and marketing. “Each of these judges is extremely accomplished and, taken together, the judges represent career success in a variety of entrepreneurial contexts.”  ....
