Ben Anderson s brace guided the Mintcakes to their second win since returning to action after they defeated a strong Morecambe Academy side 2-1 at the Parkside Road Stadium on Tuesday night. Player-manager Chris Humphrey made changes for the game which included the return of Jna’I Butterfield Steed, while young goalkeeper James Hoskins played in place of Morgan Bacon. Choosing to bat first, Moorooduc set their opponents a difficult target of 222 to chase down. Opener Brenton Alp got the run chase off to a good start, scoring 60 runs. Number four batsman Bradley McDonald also contributed some runs to the scoreboard with a knock of 42. Somerville took the game right down to the wire, but couldn’t get over the line.
