LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas A proposed bill that would have prohibited the use of public school funds to teach the 1619 Project curriculum has failed to make it out of an Arkansas House committee.
House Bill 1231, introduced by State Representative Mark Lowery (R-Maumelle), was titled as the Saving American History Act of 2021 and claimed the project was racially divisive and revisionist account of history. ....

Some AR lawmakers don t like the sentiment behind the 1619 Project, which views slavery as the defining component of American history.
Arkansas lawmakers backed down from censoring the
1619 Project in the state’s public schools Tuesday, but tense disagreements remain at the Capitol over what American history is, how it should be taught and who gets to decide.
The House Education Committee nixed House Bill 1231, sponsored by
Rep. Mark Lowery (R-Maumelle), which would have cut funding to public schools that allowed the teaching of the 1619 Project curriculum. 'Ben-Hur' star, Israeli actress Haya Harareet, dies

Israeli actress Haya Harareet, who became a star around the world in 1959 after portraying Esther, the hero’s love interest in the blockbuster masterpiece “Ben-Hur,” died Wednesday at her home in Buckinghamshire, England. She was 89.
Harareet was one of the first Israeli actors to break into Hollywood, but she couldn’t sustain her success and retired in the ‘60s. Her niece Tamar Tessler, who lives in Israel, said Harareet died overnight in her sleep. Her ashes will be scattered in Israel.
