CSC: Licensed professionals are civil service eligibles

The Civil Service Commission (CSC) said Thursday, March 11, that those who passed bar and licensure board examinations “are automatically considered civil service eligibles” under the law, and that their eligibility is one of the qualifications for appointment in career service positions.

Citing Republic Act No. 1080, as amended or “An Act Declaring the Bar and Board Examinations as Civil Service Examinations”, the commission said the passers of the bar examination conducted by the Supreme Court (SC) and licensure board examinations conducted by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) no longer have to file an application for the grant of civil service eligibility with the CSC. ....

Conduct of written civil service exams remains 'uncertain,' CSC says

The CSC attributed the continued cancellation of the CSE due to the challenges brought about by the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
“We regret that the COVID-19 pandemic continues to make it difficult for the CSC to implement the conduct of examinations especially since public health measures to contain the spread of COVID-19, such as the prohibition of mass gatherings, are as necessary now as they were first imposed in March 2020,” a statement from from the Commission’s Publications and Media Relations Division read.
In June last year, the CSC announced the cancellation of its scheduled CSE for the rest of 2020 as a result of the continuing coronavirus pandemic. ....
