A plan submitted to city officials could make it possible to order a meal and have it delivered by drone, without ever having to dock your craft. The proposed mixed-used development at the Mattabesett Canoe Club is the brainchild of the owner of the Flying Monkey Restaurant in Newington and the chief executive officer of Hartford-based Aquiline Drones.

Ring in the new year and drop kick 2020 into the rear view mirror

T he toast might be virtual, the hugs on hold, but the sentiment is universal: Let’s ring in the new year and drop kick 2020 into the rear view mirror. Things definitely aren’t typical this New Year’s Eve. The First Night celebrations in the streets, the big dance parties, the packed concerts in music halls — most are paused as we head into 2021. And plans don’t just change from day to day but hour to hour. Still, there are bright spots — retooled shows, some splashes of color and online celebrations with fun, games and a sense of community.

Singapore Distillery debuts six craft gins and a new Merlion Vodka

June Lee 22 December 2020 Share Proudly Singaporean gin flavours include Coconut Pandan, Singapore Sling and Lime Garden variants, and now a smooth vodka joins the lineup. From an idea in founder Ashwin Sekaran’s mind three years ago, to reality today. Singapore Distillery is the latest brand in locally made craft spirits that’s quietly but surely changing our palates for the better. The 27-year-old head distiller and general manager of Singapore Distillery was inspired by a trip to London’s distilleries, where he discovered that Asian herbs, spices and fruits were precious ingredients used in gin making. After training up his distilling skills, he’s since custom designed his own copper still in Ang Mo Kio and has made hundreds of test batches for each gin in order to get the best balance of flavours from his six debut gins.
