Morgan Named Burlsworth Trophy Finalist

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas redshirt senior LB Grant Morgan has been announced as one of three Burlsworth Trophy finalists, which is awarded to the most outstanding player who began their career as a walk-on, the organization announced Tuesday. The award is named after former Arkansas walk-on and All-American OL Brandon Burlsworth.
Morgan was named to the Coaches’ All-SEC first team and is second in the nation with 111 total tackles and third averaging 12.3 tackles per game, the most in the conference. The Greenwood, Ark. native also added five passes broken up, two quarterback hurries, one interception return for a touchdown, 2.0 sacks and a team-leading 7.5 tackles for loss to his season stat line. The Butkus Award, which honors the nation’s best linebacker, named Morgan a semifinalist. ....

Spiers Named Burlsworth Trophy Semifinalist
The Burlsworth Trophy selection committee announced today that Clemson punter Will Spiers has been named as one of 10 semifinalists for the 2020 Burlsworth Trophy, presently annually to the nation’s most outstanding football player who began his career as a walk-on. Spiers is Clemson’s second semifinalist for the award in the last three years, as wide receiver Hunter Renfrow won the award in 2018.
