'Blind drunk' soldier touched women after defence force failed to care for his mental health

Stewart was a communication system operator who was posted to Burnham Military Camp in 2009.
A commanding officer described him as a trusted intelligence professional whose skills were said to be “world class” and saved lives on the battlefield.
He was deployed to Afghanistan three times before leaving the troop in 2013.
The nature of his work was classified but events at the time of his first tour were the subject of the Operation Burnham Inquiry into a 2010 raid that NZ special air service forces planned and gave sign-off for a US Apache helicopter to fire on people below.

Dobbed in for being too young, Taranaki's Colin Kemp found another way to go to war

ANDY JACKSON/STUFF
World War II veteran, Colin Kemp, 98, spent his off duty time at the bow of the ship in case they were hit.
Colin Kemp apologises for being ‘’hesitant’’.
He has to collect his thoughts. It was a ‘’long time ago’’, he says of World War II.
About 76 years ago Kemp, now 98, was on an oil tanker taking part in Atlantic convoys, from the north of Scotland to New York, watching other ships in the convoy getting blown up and wondering when it was his turn.

Parliament Hansard Report – Motions — Christchurch Earthquake of 22 February 2011—10th Anniversary – 000586

Source: New Zealand Parliament – Hansard
Hon JUDITH COLLINS (Leader of the Opposition): Thank you, Mr Speaker. I found the 10th anniversary of the massive Canterbury and, particularly, Christchurch earthquakes very emotional, so I’m just going to speak from the heart. Yesterday, I was honoured to be able to attend the 10th anniversary of the 2011 quakes on the 22nd of February. Along with me were Gerry Brownlee, who seemed to spend much of his Cabinet time dealing with and trying to resurrect Christchurch from not only the ashes but, actually, the liquefaction—an enormous contribution—Nicola Grigg and Matt Doocey were there, former Ministers Nicky Wagner and Kate Wilkinson were there. All were people who I well remember around the Cabinet table doing their very best for Christchurch. ....
