Date Time Burnie man detected DUI after driving almost 5 times over alcohol limit A Burnie man has been charged after being detected driving almost five times over the alcohol limit. Police intercepted a vehicle in Upper Burnie after it was seen travelling in the wrong direction on a one-way street about 3pm yesterday. The driver, a 43-year-old Burnie man, returned a positive alcohol test and was transported to the Burnie Police Station. A further breath analysis revealed his reading to be 0.241, almost five times the legal limit. The man was arrested and charged with numerous driving-related offences, including driving whilst under the influence of intoxicating liquor and exceed 0.05. ....
Date Time Police responding to motor vehicle crash at Massey Greene Drive, Emu Heights Burnie Police are investigating a single vehicle crash, involving a laden prime mover truck which occurred approximately 4.20 pm on Tuesday the 18 th of May 2021 on Massey Greene Drive, Emu Heights. Initial investigations indicate that the truck has suffered a mechanical failure and was unable to brake, the truck quickly lost control as it was descending the hill and crashed onto the passenger side. Tasmanian Ambulance Service, Tasmania Fire Service and Tasmania Police responded to the crash. The driver of the truck suffered only minor injuries and has been released from hospital. ....
Date Time Police are responding to serious crash, Bass Highway Wynyard Approximately 3.15pm on Friday 19 February 2021, Emergency Services were called to a report of a truck colliding with two vehicles on the Bass Highway Wynyard at the Deep Creek Rd intersection. A silver Mitsubishi Four Wheel Drive and a white Subaru Wagon travelling East have collided causing the Subaru to cross the road and impact with an unladen Kenworth Prime Mover travelling West. Two of the three occupants of the Subaru have sustained serious injuries, whilst a third occupant of that vehicle has sustained minor injuries. All three occupants of Mitsubishi have sustained minor injuries. All occupants were transported to the North West Regional Hospital. ....
