Now, the crisis has arrived at Pajalaâs front door, uninvited. The condominium Pajala has rented for six years in Londonderry is not listed for sale. But that didnât stop someone from inquiring of its owner about the possibility of buying the unit. That could leave Pajala, I-Windham-Bennington-Windsor, and her two children in the lurch. While the owner, Tom Ettinger of Weston, said that a formal purchase offer has not been made, Pajala said a showing has been scheduled. And she is anxious about what the future holds. ....
Thomas Hitchcock Thomas William Hitchcock passed away on April 2, 2021, with his daughters nearby. He had been kindly cared for at the Respite House in Colchester during his last days. Tom was born at home in Manchester, Vt., on February 7, 1936, the son of Eleanor Stone and William Hitchcock. He grew up in the Manchester area and enjoyed hunting, fishing and scouting. He earned the Eagle Scout badge with his childhood friend Dave Harwood. In 1950, his mother moved Tom and his two sisters, Barbara and Elizabeth (Betty), to Texas. His football coach arranged for Tom to move back to Manchester to be cared for by his aunt and uncle, Bob and Ruth (Stone) Fowler, who ran a chicken farm. ....
Derek Cornell passed away unexpectedly of natural causes Sunday, Jan. 3, 2021 in Key West, Florida. He was 63 years old, and a resident of Manchester Center, Vermont, and Key West, Florida. Derek is survived by his wife, Katherine Cornell, daughter Caroline Cornell, her partner Daniel Logan; his father, Stephen Wood Cornell; sister Erin Kaukas, her husband Martin; brother Gavin, his wife Meg Cornell; sister Greer Cornell, her husband Charlie Mench; nieces Perri and Ali Kaukas; nephews Adin and Cruz Cornell; as well as aunts, uncles and cousins. Derek is predeceased by his mother Joan Cornell and nephews Sean and Raef Cornell. Derek was born May 27, 1957 in Mount Kisco, New York. He lived in Carmel, New York until age 6. His family moved to Manchester Village, Vermont to open the Reluctant Panther Inn. Derek grew up at the inn. After graduating Burr and Burton Seminary in 1975, Derek entered the building world working with his uncle, Peter Cornell. ....
