One hundred of the units will be built in Tal Menashe, a community in northern Samaria that was home to Esther Horgen, a 52-year-old mother of six killed on Dec. 21 by a Palestinian terrorist while she was jogging in the forest near her house.
The European Union condemned the decision of the Israeli government to approve plans to build 780 new homes in Judea and Samaria and called on the government to reverse its decision.
In a statement, the EU said: ‘’Israel’s latest decision to advance plans for the approval and construction of almost 800 new settlement units in the West Bank, is contrary to international law and further undermines the prospects of a viable two-state solution.’’

Israel has advanced plans to approve nearly 800 housing units in West Bank settlements days before the inauguration of US President-elect Joe Biden.
The Higher Planning Council of The Civil Administration on Sunday gave its final approval for 265 housing units and preliminary approval for another 415 in several Jewish settlements built on land captured during the 1967 war, according to reports. The housing units are in 12 settlements, including Tal Menashe, the home community of Esther Hurgan, 52, a mother of 6, who was killed by a Palestinian terrorist while she was jogging in the nearby Reihan Forest in the northern West Bank. More than 200 of the units are slated for the West Bank outpost of Nofei Nehemia, and about 400 units in Beit El, Evyatar, Shavei Shomron, Oranit, the Barkan Industrial Zone, and Karnei Shomron.

The National Bureau for defending land and resisting settlements (NBPRS) stated in its latest weekly report, that the Israeli Occupation Government approved last week to allocate NIS 14 million to open the so-called “Sovereignty Road” within the settlement project known as ‘E1’ east of Jerusalem. Accordingly, the northern entrance of Al-Eizeriya will be closed and the Al-Zaiem Checkpoint will be moved toward the settlement of Mishor Adumim, which will facilitate the crossing of Maale Adumim’s settlers on their way to Jerusalem. At the same time, the Palestinians will not be able to reach the Al-Eizreriya from its northern entrance. Moreover, the project includes the opening of a road and a tunnel start from the Al-Z’ayyem toward Al-Eizariya and Abu Dis, only to be used by the settlers of ‘Maale Adumim Settlement’.
