(CNN) Several kosher grocery stores around the United States have decided to pull Ben & Jerry s from their shelves after the company s announcement this week that it would stop doing business with a licensee in Israel that sells ice cream in the Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories.
Dani Secemski, the owner of Glatt Express, a kosher supermarket in Teaneck, New Jersey, said the company made the decision to drop Ben & Jerry s almost immediately upon seeing its announcement.

Ben & Jerryâs Board Head Says Parent Company Didnât Seek Their Approval To Say They Will Continue in Israel

The chair of Ben & Jerryâs board told NBC News on July 19 that their parent company, Unilever, didnât seek their approval for saying in a statement that they will still operate in Israel.
On July 19, Ben & Jerryâs posted a statement to their website saying that âit is inconsistent with our values for Ben & Jerryâs ice cream to be sold in the Occupied Palestinian Territoryâ and that âwill stay in Israel through a different arrangement.â
