The Investigating Directorate has turned to Interpol to secure the arrest of Atul and Rajesh Gupta and their wives as a former business partner of Salim Essa and three former Free State officials appeared in court on charges linked to the Vrede dairy farm project.
Former Transnet board member Iqbal Sharma and the three former provincial agriculture department officials appeared in the Bloemfontein magistrate’s court on Thursday on charges of tender fraud totalling R24-million. ....

South Africa seeks Interpol's assistance for Gupta's arrest

The National Prosecuting Authority of South Africa is seeking Interpol assistance with Gupta's arrest.

Former Transnet Board member and business partner to Gupta associate Salim Essa, Iqbal Sharma, and three former senior Free State government officials appeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrate Court today on charges of procurement fraud involving R24million, paid by the Free State Department of Agriculture (FSDoA) to Nulane Investment 204 (PTY) LTD a company owned and controlled by Sharma the statement from the NPA said. ....

Choir of credulity: Mosebenzi Zwane claims he knew noth...

Mosebenzi Zwane served as Free State agriculture MEC when he flew to India in October 2012. He was on the same flight as the Umsingizane Gospel Choir. He helped form the choir and had recorded a number of songs with the group.
Members of the choir and Zwane’s staff used his iPad and email account to arrange their accommodation in India. The travel and accommodation details were forwarded to Ashu Chawla, who worked for Sahara Computers, owned by the Gupta family, who appear to have paid for the choir’s trip.
In those emails from Zwane’s private account, Zwane was listed as one of the choir members who was due to visit India. Returning to the State Capture Commission on Thursday, he maintained he did not travel as part of the group. ....

Zwane tells Zondo he didn’t know which company got Vrede dairy deal
Former mineral resources minister Mosebenzi Zwane on Thursday tried to persuade the Zondo commission that he was unaware that the Free State government had contracted a front company for the Gupta family for the failed Vrede dairy project even though it was very much his brainchild.
According to him, he was unaware until October 2012 that the provincial government had, months earlier, signed an implementation deal with Estina, instead of another entity India’s Paras Dairy as he had assumed.
Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo asked Zwane how, as the MEC for agriculture in the Free State, this detail could have escaped him while every other official who testified on the subject was aware of the identity of the contractor. ....
