Geology: Pink quartzite was carried 600 miles across the US in the stomachs of long-necked DINOSAURS

Large lumps of pink quartzite were transported some 600 miles across what is today the American Midwest in the bellies of long-necked dinosaurs, a study concluded.
Researchers from the US explained that the giant sauropods likely swallowed the stomach stones, known as gastroliths , to help grind up food they had eaten.
The gastroliths ended up being buried in Wyoming s Morrison Depositional Basin during the Late Jurassic, 155–148 million years ago, when the dinosaurs perished.
The team knew the stones could not have originated there, as pink quartzite in North America is only found deposited in Idaho, Montana, New Mexico and Wisconsin.
By analysing minerals called zircons that act as little clocks, the team determined that the gastroliths formed 1.8 billion years ago, matching those from Wisconsin. ....

COVID-19: Tribal health departments offer shots to nontribal members

Everyone over the age of 16 recently became eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine in Wisconsin, but tribal health departments have been offering vaccinations to tribal and non-tribal members over 18 for weeks.
While demand far outweighed supply earlier this year, it appears they are starting to balance out and there are even surplus vaccines available on some days at tribal health clinics.
“We have started to see demand for COVID-19 vaccination plateau a bit,” said Michelle Myers, public health officer for the Oneida Nation.
The Oneida Health Department received its first shipments of vaccines in late December and started immediately vaccinating all of the residents of its assisted living facility, and more than three-fourths of its health care workers were vaccinated by mid-February. ....
