GHAZIABAD: Five traffic policemen, including three head constables and two constables, have been suspended for allegedly trying to extort money from cloth traders after they were stopped during checking in Masuri at NH-9. On Tuesday, TOI reported that four traders from Garh Mukteshwar made a complaint to Dr Iraj Raja, SP (rural), that five traffic cops had stopped them on NH-9 in Masuri on Sunday and demanded Rs 20,000 to let them go. The traders were carrying Rs 2.3 lakh worth cash with them, which they said was to purchase some goods from Delhi. They alleged that the traffic cops stopped them saying it was a weekend lockdown and then asked for Rs 20,000. ....

The Bangalore west division police arrested eight persons in this connection, who used to procure country made pistols from Rajasthan, and Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh and sell them here besides carrying out other crime activities like burglary and murders too. According to the police, the arrested are identified as, Kadir Khan, 32 years, and Fiazulla Khan, 31 years, of Bengaluru, Vinay, 29 years of Tamil Nadu, Parag Kumar of Uttar Pradesh, Shanawaz Ansari, 29 years of Gujarat, Nasir Sheikh, 50 years, Salman Khan, 28 years and Fakruddin all from Madhya Pradesh. ....

The accused have been identified as Kadeer Khan, 32, from Karnataka, Fayazulla Khan, 31, Vinay from Tamil Nadu, Parag Kumar, 39, from Uttar Pradesh, Shanawaz Ansari, 29, from Gujarat, Naseer Sheikh, 50, Salman Khan, 28, and Fakhruddin, 37, from Madhya Pradesh. Based on a tip-off, a team of police raided Konark Residency lodge on J.P. Street and caught Kadeer Khan. The police recovered 13 pistols and 52 rounds of live ammunition from him. Based on his information, the police arrested the other accused who were part of the racket. ....
