The Street A VIRTUAL street is helping ensure the nurses and care professionals of tomorrow are getting the best quality training in a very modern approach to education. Nursing, midwifery and healthcare students at the University of West London (UWL) in Reading are now able to follow the lives and changing health conditions of virtual residents of The Street. The UWL runs the Berkshire Institute for Health at Fountain House in Broad Street Mall where most of its health care training takes place. The virtual simulation gives access to fictional characters with changing health needs and economic circumstances over three years and has all been developed to focus training on holistic care, bridging the gap between textbook care conditions and application of practice with health deterioration and reassessment of care in mind. ....
Reading Borough Council’s Planning Applications Committee approved them when it met on Wednesday, January 13. The decisions will allow developers to press ahead with five exciting projects, that will provide hundreds of homes. Next step of the £750 million Station Hill redevelopment Lincoln MGT was granted permission to demolish the NCP car park on Garrard Street and build an 18-storey office block and a pocket park, during phase two of the project. A 70-space car park will also be built. Work on the 125-metre-tall building, called One Station Hill, will begin in the spring and it is due to be completed in 2024. ....
Final approval for 422 homes above Broad Street Mall AMBITIOUS plans to build four towering apartment blocks containing 422 homes above Broad Street Mall have been given the go ahead. Inception Reading, which owns the shopping centre, was granted planning permission to build the apartment blocks, that will range from five storeys to 20 storeys, in March 2020. The company can now press ahead with the project after Reading Borough Council’s Planning Applications Committee agreed to impose a condition stating that improvements must be made to the Broad Street Mall car park, at a meeting on January 13. It states that “landscaping shall take place” at the council-run car park to improve the appearance and biodiversity. ....
